As flexible living spaces have adapted over the last few years so has the need for flexible lighting.
Enki is an adaptable, rechargeable, ambient light for the home with a distinctive silhouette, soft warm feel, and a playful aesthetic. With up to one-month battery life and rechargeable through USB-C or the Table Docking Kit, Enki can be used anywhere with no faff or expensive installation.
The brief was to challenge normal conventions of consumer lighting, creating simpler solutions that are both accessible to a wide range of users and adaptable to different spaces.
The main challenge was creating a modular design aesthetic that worked as a stand-alone table lamp, pendant and wall light, that didn't compromise form or function.
We designed the light to be part of an ecosystem, where a range of accessory kits transform the product to adapt to different environments.
Through market research and consumer focus groups, it became clear that there was a need for simpler lighting without complex installation and cost. With people spending more time at home it’s essential that spaces can be used in different ways.
Enki's colour palette was chosen specifically to enable the product to blend seamlessly into changing environments.
To keep an accessible price point, whilst also providing a high-quality feel, a recycled ABS body was specified along with recycled e-bike batteries to power the efficient LED light source.
