Formula E challenged Beta to design a new trophy that would mark the debut of the Gen3 car, the fastest, lightest, and most advanced Formula E racer to date. The trophy needed to feel iconic and timeless, an object drivers would be proud to lift above their heads, and also keep, while embodying the new brand identity. It had to capture speed, electrification, and movement, while remaining elegant enough to stand alongside the great motorsport trophies of the world.
We began by exploring forms that could express both the raw power of electric acceleration and the refinement of a world championship. Inspiration came from automotive wheel spokes, finned heat-sinks, and the cores within electric cables, combined with the flowing lines of jewellery and car bodywork. Dozens of sketch models and 3D prints helped us fine-tune proportions and transitions, creating a sculptural form that felt dynamic from every angle.
The final composition was defined by 44 fins: 22 large fins representing the drivers, and 22 smaller fins representing the cars. This duality became the heartbeat of the design, symbolising the relationship between human and machine. Material choice was equally deliberate, opting for an anodised aluminium providing the perfect balance of lightweight strength and premium finish, allowing the trophies to be finished in gold, silver, and bronze with a high-end, jewellery-like quality.
The finished trophy is a bold, twisting sculpture that captures the torque and speed of electric racing. Its fins flare upwards and outwards in motion, visually embodying acceleration while anchoring it to Formula E’s new era. The anodised finishes shimmer under podium lights, turning every celebration into a moment of theatre and permanence.
More than just a prize, the trophy has become an icon for the sport’s new identity. First unveiled in Valencia and lifted at the Mexico City Season 9 opener, it represents not only victory but also Formula E’s role as a catalyst for change, pushing electric mobility forward at unprecedented speed. It is both a symbol of competition and a statement of the future.
