Water2 approached us to shape the next generation of their filtered showerhead and support a wider brand vision for the business. The goal was to move beyond a single product update and create a clearer, more confident language that could define Water2’s future product direction.

The design is built around clean, controlled geometry, using simple forms, precise detailing and a considered grid spray pattern to create a more refined and confident product language for Water2’s second generation shower head.

At the heart of the Water2 system is the replacable filter. The shower head uses a bayonet mechanism to open the product and allow the filter to slide directly into the stem, keeping the interaction simple and intuitive. The aluminium filter casing features an integrated screw thread to allow the filtration medium to be emptied so the casing can be fully recycled.Utilising the full length of the product, the stem extends up to the top face of the showerhead allowing for the longest possible filter, increasing capacity and supporting longer lasting, more effective filtration.

The design is shaped by the relationship between two primitive geometries, creating a minimal and instantly recognisable silhouette. By bringing together a sharp square shower face and cylindrical handle, the product feels simple and controlled, while the visual separation between the two parts makes them feel as if they float alongside one another rather than fully intersect.

Once there was a fully functioning prototype, the design was refined for manufacture. A unibody chassis design was implemented to cut down on weight, reduce part count and simplify assembly. Working closely with Mayku’s chosen manufacturer, several detailed CAD revisions were produced for pre-production samples to be made and tested. Beta tested various pre-tooling pre-production prototypes to ensure the machine performed correctly and was fully optimised for mass manufacture.
